Very large command ship, originally built as amphibious command ship but now employed as fleet/joint expeditionary force command ship. The Navy now refers to this ship as "LCC/JCC", indicating "Joint Command Ship".

She is one of the only 2 ships to be designed initially for an amphibious command ship role. Earlier amphibious command ships lacked sufficient speed to keep up with a 20-knot amphibious force.
